Nile Jackson Patterson, 91, entered heaven on Sunday, November 16, 2014, so thankful that his turn had finally come to see his Jesus.
Harvey Nile and Nora Etta Pendleton Patterson were the parents of this humble, gentle giant of a man. Nile was born October 3, 1923 in Wheeler County, Texas and as a young boy, he met the Lord Jesus at a tent revival meeting in a pasture close to Sweetwater Creek. He graduated from Wheeler High School in 1942, and soon afterwards, Nile was drafted into the Army during World War II. He was sent to New Guinea and the Philippines as a member of the Searchlight Battalion.
After returning home from war, Nile married Lois Anglen on January 28, 1947, after a very brief courtship, and, they were blessed with 4 children. Living in Wheeler, then Claude, Nile was a auto mechanic for years before going to work at Bell Helicopter, where, later he retired.
Nile was a very active member of the First Baptist Church in Claude, where he served in different areas over the years, with singing in the choir and getting to serve as a deacon provided wonderful memories.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Linda Atwood; his brother, W.J. "Dub" Patterson; and sisters, Wilma Dene Patterson and Mary Etta Caswell.
Nile is survived by his devoted wife, Lois; his children, Jack Patterson, Randal and Nancy Patterson, Dyana and Barry Duman, and Riley and Deleise Atwood; Bruce, Laura, Heather, Merinda, Rhett, Shonda, and Jeff are his precious grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild are special blessings; along with a sister, Floybelle Lewis and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family request that any memorials be sent to the Claude Volunteer Ambulance Service.
