Nelwyn Ann Ward's Obituary
It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our mother, Nelwyn Ann Ward, on June 3, 2026.
Services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 9, 2026 in the First Baptist Church in Memphis with Rev. Daniel Downey, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Memphis.
Viewing will be held Monday at the funeral home with the family receiving friends for visitation from 4:00-6:00 PM.
Arrangements are under the care of Robertson Funeral Directors of Memphis.
Nelwyn was born November 4, 1945 in Yantis, Texas to Jack and Bobbie Bohannon. She married the love of her life, Bobby Carroll Ward on May 28, 1964 in Childress. Nelwyn spent most of her life dedicated to her loved ones and community. She served as City Secretary of Memphis for 37 years. She will be deeply missed by all that knew her, but her legacy of love, kindness, and strength will live on through her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack Bohannon, and Bobbie Swenson; husband, Bobby Ward; son, Gary Ward; siblings, Billy Jack Bohannon, and Nancy Pennell.
She is survived by her son, Mark, and wife, Leigh Ann Ward; daughter, Carol Ann Gibbs; daughter-in-law, DeAnna Ward; grandchildren, Haleigh and husband Jarrett Hudson; Katelyn and husband Cody Graham; Saige Gibbs; Jaxon Gibbs; Grace Ward; great-grandchildren Jack and BK Hudson; Emery, Bentley, and Hazel Graham; siblings, Royce Bohannon, and Rhonda and husband Sean Saied.
