Nelda Henner Newman's Obituary
Nelda Hanner Newman, formerly of Shamrock, TX and a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2025 in Temple, TX at the age of 86 years, 3 months and 15 days. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, July 21, 2025 at Calvary Christian Fellowship in Shamrock, with Rev. Les Sharp officiating. Burial will follow in Shamrock Cemetery, with Rev. Joe Bruce officiating. Viewing and Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until Noon at the church on Monday prior to the service.

Born on April 1, 1939, in Heald, TX to Clois and Grace (Reneau) Hanner, Nelda lived a life marked by kindness, dedication, and a deep love for her family and community. Nelda was a lifelong resident of Texas, graduating high school in Shamrock, Texas, attending West Texas State College. She married her soulmate, Dale Newman, on February 13, 1960 and and soon started her family and began raising her children in Lubbock, TX. Her husband’s opportunities took the family to Canyon, TX and finally to Seminole, TX. She built a legacy of humor, warmth and generosity. She was a mother who took great pride as a medical technologist, golf pro shop operations director when her husband wanted to play golf, and creating a nurturing home for her family. Upon retirement, Nelda & Dale moved to Marble Falls, where they spent 21 years together. Nelda was known for her love of china painting and teaching the art to friends and family. Her passion for cooking was exemplified in her love of sharing recipes with friends and family. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she was an active member of Granite Mountain Baptist Church in Marble Falls, where she and husband attended. Nelda moved to Temple in 2018 where she continued to china paint and enjoy her family.
Nelda was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Dale Newman; her parents, Clois and Grace; and sister, Martha Pepper.
She is survived by her children, Norm Newman and his wife, Marinel (Nhei) of Hockley, TX and Niki Morgan and her husband, Rory of Temple; her grandchildren, Nathan Morgan, Matthew Morgan and his wife Brooke, Hailey Newman, and Brooke Newman; her sister, Glenda Adams; her brother-in-law, Leon Pepper; and many nieces, nephews and cherished friends.
Nelda’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, remembered for amazing talents, her gentle spirit, unwavering love, and the joy she brought to every moment. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the Granite Mountain Baptist Church of Marble Falls.
