Nealie Woodson Briggs' Obituary
Nealie Woodson Briggs, 89, of Memphis, Texas, passed away on Saturday, September 13, 2025, in Memphis.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 19, 2025, at the Memphis Church of Christ with Mariland Sims and Woodrow Richardson officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Memphis. Viewing will be Thursday at the funeral home.
Arrangements are under the care of Robertson Funeral Directors of Memphis, Texas.
Nealie was born on April 5, 1936, in Nacogdoches, Texas, to Lenex and Nellie Minnfee Woodson. She lived in Tulia, Texas, before moving to Wellington, Texas, where she graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1953. In 1954, she made her home in Memphis, Texas.
Devoted to serving others, Nealie pursued a career in nursing. She earned her associate’s degree from Clarendon College in May 1982, another associate’s degree from Amarillo College in May 1983, and later a bachelor’s degree in nursing from West Texas A&M University in August 1986. Over the years, she worked at Pounds Café, the hospitals in Memphis and Wellington, Memphis Convalescent Center, and Road Runner Health Care.
Nealie was deeply involved in her community. She served for many years on the Morningside School Reunion Committee, was a faithful member of the Morningside Church of Christ, and was honored as Grand Marshal of the 2015 Morningside Reunion Parade.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Otha Briggs; her children, Vernon Busby and Sabrina Busby; and her siblings, Willie Woodson, Vallie Veal, Loyce Woodson, Joyce Woodson, and Lynx Minnfee.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Roger Dale Briggs of Beaumont, Texas, and Carolyn McIntosh and husband Charles of Memphis, Texas; her daughter-in-law, Rosemary Busby of Memphis, Texas; her sister-in-law, Joann Minnfee of San Antonio, Texas; her grandchildren, Nadria Busby and husband Henry of Copperas Cove, Texas, Kedrick Monson and wife Kana of San Antonio, Texas, Nicolas McFalls of Copperas Cove, Texas, Mercedes McIntosh of Memphis, Texas, Porsche McIntosh of Amarillo, Texas, and Trae Busby of Memphis, Texas; her great-grandchildren, Tren Brown of Killeen, Texas, Nikko Monson of San Antonio, Mylah Ballard of Amarillo, and Jaron Monson of San Antonio; and her great-great-grandchildren, LaCamylia Abor, Casmyria Abor, and C.L. Abor, all of Killeen.
Nealie’s life was defined by her dedication to her family, her community, and her faith, and her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
