Naomi Olivia Morris Green's Obituary
CLARENDON SERVICES- will be held Saturday, March 17, 2012 at 11:00 AM in the First United Methodist Church in Clarendon with Rev. Lloyd Stice, pastor, officiating. INTERMENT - Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon. Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon. Naomi was born March 1, 1925 on a farm near Thalia, Texas to Carl Bernard “Cap” and Lena Mae Miller Morris. She went off to Texas State College for Women in Denton with her lifelong, Pat Grady Thornberry. She also attended Arlington State University. Naomi married Horace A. Green on June 20, 1943 at her parent’s home in Clarendon. Together they farmed in the Ashtola community for most of their married lives. She headed the C.B. Morris Company, one of the first family farm corporations in Texas for over 45 years. She was a member of Clarendon Chapter 6 Order of the Eastern Star, the Pathfinder Federated Women’s Club, the Red Hatters, and served on the Burton Memorial Library Board, P.T.A, and as chair of the FUMC Mission Committee and various other church positions. She was a Girl Scout Leader, a Sunday School Teacher, and was named Donley County Chamber of Commerce Pioneer Woman of the year 2003-2003. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Clarendon. Along with the many accomplishments of life, she loved gardening, flowers, birds, reading, and kids. She was accepting of all kinds of people. PRECEDED IN DEATH BY - her parents; her husband, Horace A. Green; 2 sons, Bernard Joseph Green and Lawrence Walton Green; her great great-granddaughter, Holleigh Joe Christopher; 2 brothers, John Miller Morris, SR and Abner Ripley Morris. SURVIVORS - her children, Robin M. Green and wife Paulina Jacobo of Lubbock, Patricia Friesen and husband Willis of Frisco, Jerry H. Green and wife Mary of Clarendon, Beth Stepp and husband Danny of Clarendon, Ellen Morehart and husband Kevin of Fargo, OK, and daughter-in-law, Katherine Williams of Clarendon; 18 grandchildren, Robin Green & Lisa of Aurora, CO, Benjamin Green Woodbury & Yukiko of Monterey, CA, Margaret Green & Mark Farina of San Francisco, CA, Jennifer Doerrie Bosh art & Robert of Fresno, CA, Elena Doerrie Cruce & Joel of Garland, David Green & Meagan of Panhandle, Clint Green & special friend Emily of Amarillo, Lindsay Wilhelm & Brent of Nazareth, Jason Green & Jodi of Clarendon, Lori Parscal & Greg of Amarillo, Christel Green & Chris Donnelly of Cedar Park, Jerry Green, JR & Casie of Clarendon, Charolette Sandel & Troy of Dallas, Lindsey “Hoss“ Watts & Natasha of Kirkland, Shelby Stepp & special friend Amber of Dalhart, Tiffany Newell & Jerry and Woodward, OK, Stephanie Adcock & Ken of Collinsville, OK, Micah Morehart of Fargo, OK; 27 great-grandchildren; 1 great great-grandchild; 1 brother, Carl Morris and wife Joan of Austin; and 1 sister, Mae Naylor and husband Duane of Vernon.
