HEDLEY
SERVICES - 2:00 pm on Wednesday, February 4, 2009 in the First Baptist Church in Hedley with Rev. Bruce Howard, Pastor, officiating.
INTERMENT - with Military Honors in Rowe Cemetery in Hedley.
Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon.
O’Neill was born February 23, 1924 in Estelline, Texas to Charlie & Pauline Weatherly. He attended school at Lakeview and lived at Deep Lake. He moved to Donley County in 1942. He married Sue McKee on February 17, 1946 in Hedley. He was a World War II veteran serving in the US Army. He was the City Manager in Hedley for 35 years from 1952-1987 & the Justice of the Peace for 30 years from 1960-1990. He was also in the Hedley Lions Club for several years and served as treasurer. He was on the Hedley Volunteer Fire Department and served as Fire Chief. He was also in the Hedley American Legion for 59 years and served as secretary. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hedley.
PRECEDED IN DEATH BY - his parents; a brother, Phalen Weatherly in 1967; and a great grandson, Xander Weatherly in 2004.
SURVIVORS - his wife, Sue of Hedley; a son, Gary “Butch” Weatherly and wife Nancy of Memphis; 2 brothers, Vance Grisham and wife Sandra of Amarillo, & Rex Grisham and wife Barbara of Topeka, Kansas; 2 grandsons, Scot Weatherly of Colorado Springs, CO & Curtis Weatherly of Bessie, OK; and 2 great grandchildren, Tanner Michael Weatherly & Truette Rose Weatherly.
MEMORIALS - The family requests memorials be made to Rowe Cemetery Association or the Hedley Senior Citizens.
