CLARENDON SERVICE - Graveside services at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, April 2, 2008 in Citizens Cemetery with Rev. Bryan Knowles, retired Baptist minister, officiating. INTERMENT - Citizens Cemetery. Mike was born February 10, 1950 in Clarendon to Glenn W. and Lavonia Swinney Sloan and had been a resident of Clarendon much of his life. He was a bricklayer most of his life and a member of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craft Workers Union. He was also a member of the Community Fellowship Church in Clarendon. PRECEDED IN DEATH BY - his mother and by a brother, Gary Sloan. SURVIVORS - his wife, Kathy Shields of Clarendon; his father, Glenn W. Sloan of Clarendon; 2 sons, Michael Sloan and Steven Sloan of Colorado; 2 step sons, Spencer Shields of Clarendon and Scott Knox and wife Stacy of Keene, Texas; a sister, Vicki Sloan of Clarendon; 2 grandchildren, Libby Knox and Nicholas Knox of Keene, Texas; 2 nieces, Krista Percival of Clarendon and Theresa Meyer of Lubbock; a great nephew, Christopher Meyer of Lubbock; and many friends and other family members.
