Michael Weldon Altman was born January 4, 1960 to Weldon Altman and Linda (Ashley) Altman in Memphis, Texas. He attended school in Estelline, Lakeview and Memphis. He graduated from Memphis High School in 1978. On June 29, 1987 he married Wendy Whitten in Memphis, Texas. Three children blessed this union and they became the center of his world. His greatest joys came from the achievements of his children. When he was blessed once again in 2013 with two grandchildren he became the doting Papaw who had the “perfect” grandkids. Mike’s love of farming began in the Newlin community while following his father around. He made a life of farming in Hall County first with his father, then on his own and eventually forming Altman & Graham Farms with his cousin David Graham. Mike served on the Memphis Farmers Gin and Hall County Farm Bureau Boards. He had previously served on the Hall County FSA, Memphis ISD and Hall County Youth Association boards. On the morning of August 8th he joined his father, mother and countless relatives and friends in his heavenly home.
SURVIVORS- He is survived by his wife, Wendy, a daughter Kristan Altman, two sons Seth Altman and Zack Altman all of Memphis, two grandchildren Kasyn Altman of Memphis and Victoria Garcia-Altman of Hedley, a sister Tammy and husband Ron of Justin, father and mother-in-law Warren and Joan Whitten of Memphis, Brother-in-law Jerry and wife Lisa of Lubbock. His business partner David Graham and wife Irma of Memphis. Two cousins he helped raise as his own Randall Johnson of Austin and Robert Johnson of Graham as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and lifelong friends.
MEMORIALS – Since Mike loved his hometown the family suggest that memorials be made to a favorite local charity.
