McLEAN FUNERAL SERVICES – 2:00 PM Friday, June 13, 2014 in the First United Methodist Church in McLean with Rev. Thacker Haynes and Gary Phillips officiating. INTERMENT – Hillcrest Cemetery in McLean. Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of McLean. Colleen Mertel Sherrod was born December 19, 1925 in McLean to Bryan Edson and Essie CeDella Worley Burrows. She lived mostly all of her life in McLean where she was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She married Johnnie Mertel in 1945 until his death in 2001, and the married Bob Sherrod in 2003. Colleen worked various jobs in McLean, including being the store manager for Johnnie F. Mertel Boot Shop. She loved to paint, read, crochet, and work on her computer. PRECEDED IN DEATH BY- her parents, Bryan and Essie Burrows; first husband, Johnnie Mertel, in 2001; second husband, Bob Sherrod, in 2008; her brother, Gary Burrows; and her son-in-law, Steve Lindsey. SURVIVORS – 2 daughters, Teresa Phillips and husband Gary, of Colleyville, and Toni Lindsey of Amarillo; 3 grandchildren, Wendalyn Lindsey of Germantown, MD, Tarrah Zimmerman and husband Jimmy of Colleyville, and John Phillips and wife Jennifer of Springdale, Ark.; 6 great granddaughters; and 2 great grandsons. MEMORIALS – The family requests memorial donations be made to First United Methodist Church in McLean.
