Mel L. Hogue, 88, of Amarillo, Texas died Saturday, November 23, 2024 in Amarillo, Texas.
Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, November 30, 2024 in Hillcrest Cemetery in McLean, Texas with Rev. Thacker Haynes, officiating.
Viewing will be held from 11:00 AM-Noon prior to the service on Saturday, at the funeral home.
Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of McLean.
Mel L. Hogue was born March 11, 1936 in Raymondville, Texas. His parents moved to Colorado shortly after his birth with his four older sisters, all of whom have preceded him in death. He also had a younger brother who also preceded him in death. With his first wife, he had 3 daughters, Candy(who died in 1984), Kellie, and Melanie; 8 Grandchildren, 7 Great Grandchildren, and various Nieces and Nephews .
Mel was closest to his sister in law Cathy Bailey , his nephew Jonathan Bailey , and niece Melissa Bailey and great nephew’s Luke and Noah . Mel served 6 years in the Navy in Japan as a clerk to the Admiral in charge at the time. When he returned home, he went to work for the ATSF Railroad for 32 years. That is where he met his second wife. Cynthia Carol (Cindy) they were married for 42 years. After he retired, they traveled all around the United States in various RV’s and had a wonderful time seeing the sights. Mel loved all the people in his life. I know he would want God to Bless and Keep each one of you here with him today. .
