McLEAN SERVICES- 2:00 pm on Thursday, February 25, 2010 in the First United Methodist Church in McLean with Rev. Thacker Haynes, Pastor, officiating. INTERMENT - Hillcrest Cemetery in McLean. ARRANGEMENTS - Robertson Funeral Directors of McLean. Mrs. Dwyer was born November 15, 1928 in Amarillo to Jake L. and Bessie Sitter Hess and had been a lifetime resident of the McLean area, having grown up on the family ranch before moving into McLean. She married John Dwyer on September 4, 1948 in McLean. She was a Gray County Commissioner from 1970-1974 and worked for Panhandle Community Outreach for more than 25 years. She had always been active in farming and ranching. She graduated from McLean High School in 1946 and attended Stephens College in Missouri. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, the McLean Care Center Auxiliary where she served as an ombudsman, a member of the McLean Senior Citizens, and a member of the First United Methodist Church for 81 years where she was active in the United Methodist Women and involved in the Walk to Emmaus. PRECEDED IN DEATH BY - her parents; her husband in 1971; a son, Charles Ray Dwyer in 2003; a sister, Margaret Hess Coleman; and a brother, Faris Jake Hess. SURVIVORS - a daughter, Rose Helen Dwyer Steel and husband Dale of McLean; a son, John Nelson Dwyer of Amarillo; a sister, Ruth Magee of McLean; grandchildren, Lindsy Krehbiel and husband Frank, Landon and Alicia Dwyer, Lacey and Ty Hays, Shaley and Shawn Elliott, Jacey Ray Steel; and great grandchildren, Trae Dwyer, Bralee Crossland, Brooke Krehbiel, Scott Caldwell, Kade Hays, and Raylee Elliott.
