Mary Groves was received into God’s Heavenly Kingdom on Friday January 20th, 2017 where she joined her beloved husband Douglas Lester Groves and son Douglas Lester Groves II. She was born on December 2nd, 1923 in Silver City New Mexico to parents Pete and Nora Castillo who preceded her in death.
Mary was one of the strongest people you could ever know. She provided loving kindness and a moral compass to those in her life. Her passing is bitter sweet but we know she is in heaven. We know she will always be with us as we go through life. Every time we achieve or flourish we will know it is because of the strength and wisdom that she passed on to everyone she touched.
Mary embodied the heart of Jesus, to love and serve others. Mary was blessed with the ministry of hospitality. She always welcomed company and had a steady stream of visitors that she considered family. In her honor, invite a friend over, put on a pot of coffee, share a cookie, and really listen to their conversation.
Her two surviving daughters are Sylvia Meisenheimer and husband John of Alvin Texas, Jackie Riger of Baltimore Maryland and daughter-in-law Glenda Groves of Watertown Wisconsin. Her grandchildren are Tracey Russell, Jessica Murphy and husband Stephen, Kim Berg, Christi Kienast, Douglas Scott Groves, and Sheri her husband Jason Judge. Great grandchildren include Elisha Comfort, Ryan Berg, Zachary, Abagail, and Ellie Keinast, Ashley and Mallory Groves, Jacob Wood, Danielle, Andrew, and Joshua Murphy, Matthew Groves, Evan Rocha, and one great-great grand baby Peyton Nicole.
Flowers are welcome or in lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church or your favorite charity in her memory.
