Martha Marcia Lee Duke Lister was born February 3, 1931 in Memphis, Texas, to William Henry “Bill” and Oveta Walls Hawthorn. Martha was married to Colman Earl Duke for several years until he preceded her in death in 1972. She then married Kenneth E. Lister on July 17, 1993 in Texline. Together, Martha and Kenneth made their home in Texline. Martha had worked on the ranch to help her family, as a bookkeeper at the Memphis 1st National Bank, as a bookkeeper at the Cimarron Feedlot, managed the medical records department at the prision for the Dalhart Unit, and also worked for the Clayton, NM Chamber of Commerce. Martha was a member of the Texline Eastern Star #640. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Texline.
SURVIVORS- her husband, Kenneth Lister of Texline; sons, Don Duke, Ken Lister, Keith Lister, and Steve Lister; a daughter, Shirley Harold; 14 grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren.
PRECEDED BY – her parents; her first husband, Colman Duke; a son Jimmy Duke; a daughter Sharon Kay Lister; a sister Henrietta Hawthorn Wiley; 1 grandchild; and 1 great grandchild.
MEMORIALS – In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials be made to the Texline First Baptist Church.
