Martha Spalding Lowe's Obituary
CLARENDON
SERVICES - 2:00 pm on Thursday, August 21, 2008, in the First United Methodist Church in Clarendon with Bright Newhouse, Minister of the Hedley Church of Christ, & Rev. Terry Lowe, pastor, officiating.
INTERMENT - Rowe Cemetery in Hedley.
Martha was born October 18, 1936, in Hedley to Alfred Beach and Eloise Leach Spalding. She married Douglas Richard Lowe on June 22, 1955, in Hedley. She had been a homemaker for most her life, but had volunteered with many organizations including the Ellis-Fischel State Cancer Research Hospital. She had been the secretary-treasurer for the Big Spring First United Methodist Church. Martha had also served as the District President of WMU, now known as the United Methodist Women. She had many hobbies including knitting, making candles, and painting. She especially loved playing bridge and had a love for people that will never be forgotten. She had been a resident of Clarendon for most her life. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Clarendon.
PRECEDED IN DEATH BY- her parents.
SURVIVORS INCLUDE- her husband, Doug Lowe of Clarendon; 2 sons, Charles Wayne Lowe of Mesquite, Texas, David Richard Lowe and wife Margaret of Decatur, Texas; 2 sisters, Kathleen Pixley of Grove, Oklahoma, Sara Carter of Clayton, New Mexico; 3 grandchildren, Brandon Lowe, Justin Lowe, Cody Lowe; and 1 great grandchild, Chasady Lowe.
The family requests that no flowers be sent, rather all memorials be to the Hedley Senior Citizens / PO Box 216 / Hedley, Texas 79237.
The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
