Marilyn B. Thompson's Obituary
Marilyn B. Thompson, 84, of Groom died Tuesday, March 17, 2020 in Groom.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, March 20, 2020 in the First Baptist Church in Groom with Rev. Andy Dietz, officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Groom.
Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon.
Marilyn was born March 6, 1936 in Groom to Charlie Francis and Theresa Homer Hermesmeyer. She married the love of her life, Douglas Thompson on February 7, 1975 in Douglas, Wyoming and moved to Douglas, Wyoming to begin their life together. She was a homemaker but had worked as a grocery store clerk, bank clerk, and a sales associate prior to her retirement.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Christopher Quirk; a daughter, Denise Ann Rode; and two brothers, Ernest Hermesmeyer and Gerald Hermesmeyer.
She is survived by her husband, Doug Thompson of Groom; a son, Randy Quirk and wife Cindy of Amarillo; 4 daughters, Janet Quirk Carey and husband Doug of Casper, Wyoming, Charlotte Quirk Coleman and husband Tim of Magnolia, Lynn Thompson Cochran and husband Brice of Windsor, Colorado, and Rhonda Thompson Lord and husband Gary of Parker, Colorado; a son in law, Steve Rode of Nederland; 3 brothers, Charles Hermesmeyer, Robert Hermesmeyer, and Martin Hermesmeyer; 13 grandchildren; and 31 great grandchildren.
The family request memorials be sent to Groom Fire Department, Groom Ambulance Service, or the Groom Community Center.
