Marilyn Sue "Suzie" Prather's Obituary
Marilyn Sue “Suzie” Prather, 75, of Groom, TX, passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2025 in Amarillo, TX.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 AM on Friday, February 21, 2025 at First Baptist Church in Groom with Rev. Tyler Eggleston officiating. Viewing will be held at the church starting at 9:30 AM prior to the service. Burial will be at 2:00 PM in Delhi Cemetery, south of Sayre, OK.
Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon.
Suzie was born in Dumas, TX to Melville and Delores (Showers) Prather. She graduated from Palo Duro High School in Amarillo class of 1968. After graduating, Suzie became a nursing aide working in local nursing homes. Later, she went back to school and received her LVN license. She worked for Saint Ann’s Nursing home in Panhandle for several years before moving to Farmersville, TX. There, Suzie continued her nursing career for another 20 years before her retirement. To be closer to family, she then moved to Groom, TX where she has been a resident for the past 5 years.
Suzie enjoyed crafting and used plastic canvas to create many beautiful pieces of art. She also loved spending time researching and recording family history. Suzie was a member of First Baptist Church in Groom and often volunteered in the nursery.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Richard “Rick” Lynn Prather.
Suzie is survived by her son, Michael Lynn McDougald of DFW; sister-in-law, Sharon Prather of Groom; nephew, Jason Prather; two great-nieces, Jordyn and Gracelynn Prather; and numerous cousins and extended family members.
