Margaret lived in Minnesota and taught school there until she married Edward Pakan and moved in 1946 to Shamrock, Texas. There she was a homemaker and loved to sew. She made each of her 3 daughters 5 dresses before each fall school year, a dress at Christmas and at Easter. She loved to read, and kept a garden with flowers and vegetables. She loved to bake cakes, pastries and pies--especially Edward's favorite apple pie. Margaret had a strong faith in Jesus as her Lord and Savior. She actively practiced that faith and participated in many church activities. She played the church organ-a pump organ originally and then an electronic organ. She helped with VBS, taught Sunday School, sang with the choir, and was active in the altar guild and Ladies Aid. She was in a Home Demonstration Club, served in various PTA offices, and a homeroom mother. When her two oldest daughters entered college, she went back to the education field leading music sessions and being a teacher's assistant. IN 2004, following Edward's illness, they both moved to live with daughter Joan in Eagle Pass, TX. Margret helped "supervise" Edward's care until he passed in 2009 after 63 years of marriage. Margaret enjoyed playing Mexican "lotteris" at an adult day care center, going to a Ladies Bible study, reading the Bible, playing Rumicube, reading, and attending church faithfully until she became homebound.
Left to cherish her memory are her 3 daughters: Charlotte Pakan of PA, Joan Pakan Garcia ( Mike) of Eagle Pass, TXC and Jean Pakan Marks (Bill) of Royse City, TXC, 9 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
