McLEAN AGE - 100 DIED - Monday, February 22, 2010 AT - McLean, Texas SERVICES - Saturday, February 27, 2010 at 2:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church in McLean, with Rev. Thacker Haynes officiating. INTERMENT - Hillcrest Cemetery in McLean. ARRANGEMENTS - Robertson Funeral Directors of McLean. Mrs. Johnston was born February 24, 1910 in Giles to JP and Tishie Ruth Rhea Alexander. Maggie Ruth was raised in Hedley and has lived in McLean over the last 83 years. She worked as a Licensed Vocational Nurse at the McLean Hospital and several of the area hospitals. She married William Elton Johnston, Sr on January 19, 1926 at Ardmore, OK. Maggie was past Worthy Matron of McLean chapter of Order of the Eastern Star. She was also member of various hobby clubs and worked with 4-H for many years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in McLean. PRECEDED IN DEATH BY - her parents; her husband, Elton in 1991; her son, Fred Wayne Johnston; 3 sisters; and 4 brothers. SURVIVORS - 2 sons, William Elton Johnston, Jr and Dale Rhea Johnston, both of San Angelo; 2 Daughters, Bettye Ruth West of Groom and Martha Jean Barker of Shamrock; 29 grandchildren; 51 great grandchildren; 61 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews as well as a host of friends and other family. CASKET BEARERS - will be her grandsons. MEMORIALS - The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be to the First United Methodist Church of McLean or the McLean-Alanreed Area Museum.
