Mae D. Harris' Obituary
Mae D. Harris, 86, of Clarendon, Texas, passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2026, in Clarendon.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026 at 10:30 AM at Clarendon First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon.
Viewing will be held on Friday at the funeral home from 8 AM - 4 PM.
Mae was born on June 12, 1940, in Matador, Texas, to Jimmie Lee and Varie (Walker) Harris. She was raised in a large and loving family alongside four sisters and six brothers. She later made Clarendon her home, where she spent the majority of her life.
Mae found joy in the simple blessings of life and treasured every moment spent with those she loved. She had a passion for dancing and could often be found enjoying music whenever she had the chance. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and she loved praising God and sharing His love with others.
Mae took great pride in keeping a clean home and creating a welcoming place for family and friends. She cherished every opportunity to spend time with her grandchildren, as well as the many "extra kids" she lovingly embraced as part of her family. Whether by blood or by heart, everyone who came into her life knew they were welcome.
She also enjoyed making pillows, a hobby through which she expressed her creativity and care for others. A fresh cup of coffee shared with family or friends was one of life's simple pleasures, and she never missed an opportunity to visit, laugh, and enjoy good company. Above all, Mae had a servant's heart. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, never hesitating to offer her time, kindness, or encouragement.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jimmie Lee and Varie (Walker) Harris; her four sisters, Lillie Mae Harris, Katie Mae Harris, Mae Ellen Butler, and Fern Jones; her six brothers, Raven Harris, Allen Harris, Jimmy Lee Harris, L.V. Harris, Bud Lee Harris, and Benny Lee Harris; three grandchildren, Timothy Jackson, Jr., Neal Harris, and Tiffany Calloway; and one great-grandchild, Easton Jackson.
Those left to cherish her memory include her two sons, Roger Harris of Amarillo and Donnie Ray Harris and wife Bernita Ballard of Clarendon; her three daughters, Mary Calloway of Clarendon, Martha Daoheuang and her husband, Sam, of Clarendon, and Deana Harris and husband Bruce Hood of Amarillo; 23 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Mae's legacy is one of faith, love, compassion, and devotion to her family. She touched countless lives through her kindness and generosity, and her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
