Lynda Waggoner Robinson's Obituary
Lynda Waggoner Robinson, 71, of Claude, Texas, passed away on December 9, 2021, in Claude.
A celebration of life is scheduled for Wednesday, December 15, 2021, 10:00 A.M. at the First Baptist Church in Claude with Rev. Dick Gravley, officiating.
Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors.
Lynda was born in Amarillo, Texas on May 17, 1950. She was adopted by Bryan and Lorene Waggoner from Claude and graduated from Claude High School in 1968.
Lynda was married to James Robinson on June 21, 1968; They were married 53 years.
She spent several years working in her family business at “The Claude News” where she was an editor and writer. Her beloved “From Lynda’s Desk” articles are still treasured and hold great memories. After the sale of the paper, she moved to the First Baptist Church in Claude where she worked for 16 years. She then went to work for West Texas A&M University in the nursing department as a recruiting and admissions counselor for 20 years. Lynda had so much compassion and love for her students and was always willing to lend a listening ear.
She was a past member of “Texas Press”; Claude Chamber of Commerce; Claude J.C. Ettes; High Plains Baptist Church Secretaries, where she held many offices including the presidency; and Caprock Round-Up, where she was the chairwoman for several years.
Lynda is preceded in death by her parents Bryan and Lorene Waggoner and her biological parents Bill and JoHanna Godfrey.
Lynda is survived by her husband James Robinson; her brother Ray Godfrey (Debby) of Durango, Colorado; her two daughters, Tammy Neel (David), of Hilltop Lakes, Renea Swink (P.D.), of Laguna Vista; her 3 granddaughters Katie Mitchell (Richard), Kenna Hendricks (Matthew), and Kelcie Gonzalez (Pedro); her 5 grandsons David Neel (Amanda), Chase Neel (Amber), Nathan Neel, Dalton Swink, and Tathan St. Pierre; several nieces and nephews; many beloved friends and classmates; and a special friend and sister, Roselane Brummett of Ranger, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be sent to Life Gift or West Texas A&M University Nursing Department.
