Lura Jean Deger's Obituary
Lura Jean Deger, 88, of Shamrock died Wednesday, September 19, 2018.
Services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, September 23, 2018 in the Eleventh Street Baptist Church in Shamrock with Rev. Travis Leamon and Glen Switzer, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Wellington.
Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Shamrock.
Lura Jean was born October 22, 1929 on a farm in Collingsworth County to Ed and Vera Keys Dunn. She had lived in Shamrock most of her life, graduating from Shamrock High School in 1948. Went to work out of high school for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company where she worked for 28 years. She married Jack Deger April 7, 1950 in Shamrock, they had almost 57 years together. She was a member of the Eleventh Street Baptist Church.
Lura Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Deger; her parents; a brother, Laurence Dunn; a brother, David Dunn; and a sister, Lillian Hunt.
She is survived by 2 daughters, Brenda Deger of Amarillo and Joleta and Pat Lucas of Fairmont, Oklahoma; 3 grandchildren, Chad and Mandy Gragg of Lubbock, Desha Gragg and Jeff Fields of Amarillo, and Cody Edwards of Enid, Oklahoma; 2 great granddaughters, Avery and Abby Gragg of Lubbock; 1 great grandson, Dodge Garza of Amarillo; many nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be to the Eleventh Street Baptist Church or to a favorite charity.
