Loyd Alton Mays' Obituary
CLARENDON SERVICES - 3:00 pm on Sunday, October 8, 2006 in the First Baptist Church in Clarendon with Rev. Bill Hodges, Pastor of the Clarendon Church Of The Nazarene, and Rev. Lance Wood, Pastor, officiating. BURIAL- With military honors in Citizens Cemetery. Mr. Mays was born April 7, 1933 in Port, Oklahoma to Lester Thomas and Viola Cansada Lewis Mays. He had been a resident of Clarendon for much of his life. He married Charline Mozel Johnson on January 22, 1953 at Clarendon. He was a US Army veteran and served in Germany during most of his enlistment during the Korean Conflict. He was deployed with the Navy and served on the USS JFK, the USS Independence, and the USS Ticonderoga, receiving a letter of commendation from the officers he served with. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 7782. He farmed for most of his life and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Clarendon. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Joni Sanderson; and five brothers, Claude Mays, Max Mays, Marva Lee Mays, Ivan Mays, and Allon Mays. He is survived by his wife, Charline Mays of Clarendon; one son, Lynn Mays and wife Laura of Wellington; one daughter, Deena Robison and husband Claud of Howardwick; ; one sister, Aleene Kimmel and husband Fritz of Comanche, TX; and one grandchild, Ryan Robison.
