Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at Allison Methodist Church, with Brett Begert officiating, assisted by Michael Price. Interment will follow at Zybach Cemetery in Briscoe, TX.
Louise was born December 8, 1943, in Shamrock, TX to Matthew Porter and Emma Mary Rogers. She married O.D. Coulter, Jr on January 31, 1964 in Ponder, TX. Louise grew up in Allison, TX. She attended Texas Women’s University in Denton, TX, majoring in Home Economics, where she met O.D. While living in Ponder, Louise put her seamstress skills to use by making custom clothes for customers and doing alterations out of their home. These skills were something she was proud of because it allowed her to earn money for their household while staying home to raise their children. Louise and O.D. returned to Allison in December of 1973 to take over the family farming and ranching operation when her father retired. Louise returned to work at Allison ISD as the superintendent’s secretary, food services manager and tax accessor collector.
Louise was a very hands-on farm and ranch wife. She found joy in delivering meals to the field as well as helping move equipment from one field to the next. She never shied away from taking her turn checking heifers at midnight, bottle feeding newborn calves, or tending calves her husband would bring into the house during the winter, half frozen from being born during the coldest mornings. Louise never complained; she loved being a farm and ranch wife. Saying her family was her life was an understatement. At noon, her table would always be full; she took joy in feeding any and everyone who was around. Louise loved her grandkids and great-grandkids and always had open arms to rock babies until they started school. She attended every school event, whether sporting or academic. Louise loved the Lord; she loved music and singing in the choir. She looked forward to performing in the yearly Christmas Cantata. Louise was involved in the Texas Cattle Women and in the Allison Methodist Church.
