Graveside services will be Thursday, April 16, 2015 at 11:00 AM in Shamrock Cemetery, with Cottie Tarbet, officiating. INTERMENT- Shamrock Cemetery in Shamrock. ARRANGEMENTS - Robertson Funeral Directors of Shamrock. SHAMROCK---- Loretta DeLois Clay died Monday, April 13, 2015 in Amarillo, Texas. Graveside service will be Thursday, April 16, 2015 at 11:00AM at Shamrock Cemetery with Mr. Cottie Tarbet officiating. Loretta Crowder was born May 6 in Wheeler, Texas, the only child of Lawrence and Ara Herd Crowder. She graduated from Wheeler High School where she was an excellent student and the Mustang Band Majorette. Loretta married Billy L. Clay on March 2, 1956 in Shamrock, Texas and after Bill’s release from the Army, they resided in Shamrock where they raised four children. She was preceded in death by her parents and later by her husband, Bill, on September 27, 1995. Loretta was a member of the Church of Christ in Shamrock for more than 58 years. She enjoyed classic movies, her favorites being “The Wizard of Oz” and “Gone with the Wind”. She played piano, sang, and enjoyed various games, especially those that would make her laugh until she cried. In her younger years she enjoyed time at the beach, ice cream socials, and family picnics. A good wife and mother, Loretta worked for the school system and the local hospital for years until her retirement. Survivors include her four children: daughter Rita Amptmann and husband Michael of Lacey, Washington; daughter Christy Stewart and husband Keith of Spring, Texas; son Doyle Clay of Shamrock, Texas; and daughter Carma Walker and husband Shane of Lewisville, Texas. She has four grandchildren -- Amanda, Bryan, and Clayton --children of Christy and Keith Stewart; Westin Walker, son of Carma and Shane Walker; and a great-granddaughter, McKayla, daughter of Amanda Stewart Jeffery. The family suggests donations in memory of Loretta Clay to the Church of Christ, 107 W. Laville, Shamrock, Texas 79079; or the American Heart Association.
