He was born December 22, 1930 to John Sterling and Lela Ruth Plummer Jones in Almon, MO. On June 8, 1953 he married Dorothy Jean Moore in Logan, NM. They were married for 52 years when she went to be with Jesus on April 22, 2006. Loren grew up in the Almon & Hermitage MO area where he graduated high school in 1949. Shortly afterwards he became a Sergeant in the Marines and was stationed in Camp Pendleton, CA. Proudly serving his country. During his time in the military, Loren became a depot operator for the Rock Island RR working in Logan NM, Amarillo, Eldon, MO, San Jon NM,, Vega, TX, Texhoma, OK, and Dalhart, TX before retiring from the Cottonbelt RR in 1985. A devout Christian, he and Dorothy brought numerous people to know the Lord. He was a fun loving, always laughing and telling jokes or some silly stories. Some of the fondest memories created were of Loren strumming his guitar as Dorothy played piano while their children sang along and giggled! As owner of Jones’ Honey & Bee Apiary, he and his son Duane raised honey bees together and produced the best honey anyone ever ate!.. Through many camping and grass-roots honey trips, Loren and Dorothy became a source of strength, wisdom, confidence, inspiration and just plain silliness for their grandchildren. Loren was a kind man who would do anything for anyone, never met a stranger, teaching his kids how to pray, laugh, love and live. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy in April, 2006; a daughter, Rita Cheryl Jones; one grandson; one great grandson; and his parents.
