Services will be Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at 2:00 PM in the Eleventh St. Baptist Church, Shamrock, TX with Rev. David Moore, officiating.

Lois Ruffin Simpson Yarbrough was born January 08, 1919 in Boswell, OK to Hattie May and Pierce Ruffin. At the age of 8 she moved to Texas and settled in the Lutie community. She attended school at Lutie, Round-up and Aberdeen. On October 8, 1934 she started to school at Samnorwood, (its first day) and graduated in 1937 as valedictorian of the class. Lois married John Simpson April 6, 1940. They lived on a farm 5 miles north of Samnorwood for 50 years. Lois worked in the Samnorwood school for 17 years. While working there she wrote the history of Samnorwood, titled “The Samnorwood Saga.” John and Lois moved to Shamrock in 1990 and John passed away on November 2, 1992. On March 26, 1999 Lois married C. E. Yarbrough and C. E. passed away on May 17, 2002. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Mark Simpson, three brothers, Jimmy, Vernon and Willis Wilson; three sisters, Mable Ruffin Denman, Gladys Ruffin Ring, and Mary Ruffin Hartless.
