Lois Patterson's Obituary
SERVICES- 11:00 am Tuesday, January 27, 2015 in the First Baptist Church in Claude with Rev. Dick Gravley and Rev. Delbert Serratt, officiating. INTERMENT- Claude Cemetery in Claude. Arrangements are by Robertson Armstrong Chapel of Claude. Viewing will be held Monday at Claude. Lois Patterson, 87, passed away in the early hours on January 23, 2015. Lois was born in Whitley, Arkansas on October 3, 1927 to Samuel Rollie and Emma Ruby Jones Anglen. At an early age she moved with her family to the Wheeler county area in Texas and attended school in Mobeetie and Briscoe, making lifelong friends along the way. In October of 1946, on the courthouse square in wheeler Texas Lois met a young soldier whom just returned from World War II. Nile Jackson Patterson quickly captured her heart. They were married on January 28, 1947. While living in Wheeler she became the mother of 4 children. She took great pride in creating a home for her family. They became active members in the First Baptist Church in Wheeler, Texas. Then in 1960 the family relocated to Claude, Texas where they spent the rest of their life on this earth. The First Baptist Church in Claude was an integral part of the families life. Some of Lois' hobbies include making porcelain dolls and sewing intricate clothes. She was skilled at firing, painting, etc in the creation of beautiful ceramics within her hobby room which she loved. She had a special place in her heart for animals, gardening, and canning. One of her great joys through the years was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. A treasured memory her family cannot forget are the sugar cookies she would always make for family gatherings. Lois was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of almost 68 years, Nile; a precious daughter Linda Atwood; and siblings: Ernest, Opal, Floyd, Truman, and Margaret. Lois is survived by her children, Jackie Patterson, Randall and Nancy Patterson, Dyana and Barry Duman, and Riley and Deleise Atwood; Bruce, Laura, Heather, Merinda, Rhett, Shonda, and Jeffrey are her grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild; along with a brother, John Anglen. The family request that any memorials be sent to the Claude Volunteer Ambulance Service or First Baptist Church in Claude
