INTERMENT- Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon.

Douglas was born June 28, 1931 in Clarendon to Loyd and Verue Leathers Shelton. He married Phyllis Abernethy on October 4, 1985 in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He graduated with a bachelors degree from Texas Tech University. He had been a lifetime resident of Clarendon was a rancher all of his life. He was a member of the Panhandle Livestock, Clarendon Outdoor Entertainment Association, Texas & Southwestern Cattle Raisers, and the First Baptist Church in Clarendon.
PRECEDED IN DEATH BY – his parents; and his wife, on July 10, 2007.
SURVIVORS- 2 sons, Stan Shelton and wife Melanie and Ken Shelton and wife Theresa all of Clarendon; 2 step sons, Dewey Ford of Virginia and Chris Ford of Clarendon; a sister, Sandra McCullough of Katy; 5 grandchildren, Shanna Shelton of Grandbury, Derrick Shelton of Borger, Audrey Shelton of Stephenville, Haley Shelton and husband Taylor of Amarillo, and Raylyn Shelton of Clarendon; and 5 step grandchildren.
MEMORIALS- The family request memorials be sent to Clarendon Volunteer Fire Department or Donley County Senior Citizens in Clarendon.
