Linda Kaye Newsted's Obituary
Linda Kaye Newsted, 73, of Claude formerly of Shamrock died Saturday, December 16, 2017 in Claude.
Graveside Services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 20, 2017 in Shamrock Cemetery in Shamrock with Jim Reyna, officiating. Burial will follow in Shamrock Cemetery in Shamrock.
Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Shamrock.
Linda was born January 16, 1944 in Shattuck, Oklahoma to Linuel and Oleta Petty. She married James Mitchell Newsted on February 2, 1963 in Phoenix, Arizona. She graduated from Carl Hayden High School in 1962. She worked for Ashland Chemical, Great Plains Breeders Service, and Shamrock Public Library prior to her retirement. She was a proud member of the Shamrock Church of Christ and McLean Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband, Jim Newsted of Claude; her children, Melody Peckumn and husband David of Amarillo, Scott Newsted and wife Caroline of Claude, and Kelly Benton and husband Larry of Angier, North Carolina; one sister, Pam O’Neal of Shamrock; her grandchildren, Crystal and Austin Miller, Kaitlin Gowin, Nolan Wiedeman, Damien Schlehofer, Tyler Newsted, Kayla Benton, Gabrielle Benton, and William Benton, III; 5 great grandchildren; 2 nieces of Shamrock; 4 great nephews; 1 great niece; and one dog who she loved dearly, Rascal.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be sent to the Shamrock Public Library.
