Linda Carol Farley's Obituary
Linda Carol Farley, 75, of Memphis, TX passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 in Lubbock.
Cremation and arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Memphis.
Linda was born in Memphis, TX on June 29, 1949 to J.J. and Ella (Mabry) Hunter. She was a graduate of Lakeview High School. Linda married her husband of 49 years, James Wesley Farley, on May 29, 1970 in Memphis, and they later had two children, Julie and Scott. After having children, Linda stepped away from her career as a telephone operator to be a stay-at-home mom for many years. Once her children were older, she returned to being an operator until the field phased out. She made many lifelong friends while working for the telephone company. Later, Linda was an aide at the Memphis Convalescent Center for a short time before becoming a custodian/groundskeeper for regional telephone offices until she was forced to retire due to Stiff Person Syndrome. No matter the career field, Linda worked hard at everything she did.
Linda was also a very loving and involved mother who was Julie’s Girl Scout Leader for a few years and she faithfully attended all of Scott's sporting events and helped care for his animals. Linda loved attending the Mabry family reunions and Faulkner/Farley "wing wangs". She never missed a chance to visit with family. Linda loved to talk, and never met a stranger. She spent hours talking to her friends and family every day when she was no longer able to work.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents; in-laws, Bill & Ida Farley; husband, James in 2019; sister, Jimmie Tarver; brother-in-law, Tex Garnett; nephews, Cal Farley and David Tarver; and niece, Lindsey Garnett.
Survivors include her daughter, Julie Farley of Lubbock; son, Scott Farley of Amarillo; brothers-in-law, Gary Tarver, Billie Farley (Betty), and Joe Farley; sister-in-law, Lanita Garnett; nephews, Mark Tarver (Lesa), Dale Tarver (Jodi), Wes Farley, and Eric Farley; nieces, Michelle Tarver, Suzie Meyer (Max), Mandi Farley, and Lana Trahern; 17 great nieces & nephews; 24 great-great nieces & nephews; and numerous other friends and family members.
