Leonardo "Leon" Ramos Jr.'s Obituary
Leonardo “Leon” Ramos, Jr. of Shamrock, TX passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2024 in Shamrock at the age of 70 years, 10 months and 22 days. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at Eleventh Street Baptist Church in Shamrock, with Mark Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Shamrock Cemetery. Viewing will be Friday from 9:00 AM until 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
Leon was born in Hayti, Missouri on July 14, 1953 to Leonardo Sr. and Elena Ramos. Leon attended Shamrock Schools. He married LaWana Crutcher from McLean, TX on January 6, 1973 in Lefors, Texas. Leon was a lifelong resident of Shamrock. He retired from the City of Shamrock in 2017 having been an employee for 34 years.
Leon and LaWana were blessed with 3 sons Chris, Jerad and Justin. He was a proud dad having been able to teach his boys his hard work ethic and his hands on mechanic abilities. Leon was so proud of his grandchildren. He loved being a PawPaw and was so excited and ready to meet his great granddaughter Scottie that is due the day after his birthday next month.
Leon was a friend to all, helping anyone who needed a hand. Leon enjoyed hanging out at the pig pen with his friends and catching up on all the town news. Leon was the oldest of 10 kids. He was a big brother with a big sense of humor. He was known to his family as 007. He always seemed to know what all his sisters were always up to! Hence 007!! We will miss our daily calls and his quick antics for sure.
Preceding him in death were: His parents, Leonardo Sr. and Elena Ramos, a son Jerad Ramos, two brothers Frankie Ramos and Johnny Ramos.
He is survived by his wife Lawana of the home, a son Chris and wife Jo Ramos of McLean, a son Justin and wife Tanya Ramos of Lutie, brother Nick and wife Evelyn Ramos of Denham Springs, LA., brother Jessie and wife Josie Ramos of Shamrock, sister Lisa and husband John Arriaga of Shamrock, sister Sylvia and husband Steve Zaiontz of Shamrock, sister Mary De La Cruz of Elk City, OK., sister Connie and husband Steve Walden of Shamrock, sister Gloria and husband Lee Lacy of Shamrock, sister -in -law Lynn Ramos of Shamrock. Grandchildren Kailynn, Keili, Jerad Scott, Emerson, and Eli Ramos. Best buddies: Phillip Reeves, Brandon Gaither, David Simpson, John Walker, John Arriaga, and his Monster Man aka Hayden Ramos. Numerous nieces and nephews.
