Memorial services will be Thursday, May 09, 2013 at 2:00 PM in the First Baptist Church, Shamrock with Rev. Joe G. Jernigan, officiating. INTERMENT: Private family burial will be in Mayfield Cemetery near Erick, OK Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Shamrock
Lena Maureen Whipkey Luman was born October 31, 1916 in Mayfield, OK to Arthur and Birdie Whipkey. She married Oscar B. Luman in Erick, OK on November 6, 1938. They lived in Erick for 20 years and in Shamrock for 47 years. Mrs. Luman moved to Amarillo in May of 2005.
Lena received her Bachelor of Education degree from Southwestern State College in Weatherford, OK and taught school for 38 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Shamrock for over 46 years and an Adult Sunday School teacher most of those years. She was a member of the Wheeler County Retired Teachers Association, Delta Kappa Gamma, the Emerald Study Club and a board member of the Pioneer West Museum in Shamrock.
Mrs. Luman was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar B. Luman, her parents, two sisters and one brother.
