CLARENDON SERVICES - 10:00 am, Monday, June 25, 2007 in the First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Tom Garmon, Pastor, and Rev. Darrell Burton, Odyssey Hospice Chaplain, officiating. BURIAL- Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon.
L.L. was born September 29, 1911 at Greenville, Hunt County, Texas to Julius Harvey and Florida McKinney Wallace. He married Mary Naylor on June 18, 1932 at Amarillo. Mr. Wallace started Wallace Monument Company in Clarendon in 1930 and worked until his retirement in 1971. He was a member of the Clarendon Lions Club where he was Past Boss Lion. He also attended 2 National Lions Club Conventions and 1 International Convention. He was a member of Clarendon Masonic Lodge #700. He was also Past President of the Monument Builders of the Southwest. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Clarendon where he served in several church offices. He was a Past President of the School Board, Past President of the Panhandle Square Dance Club, Past President of the Clarendon Country Club. He was a member of the Clarendon Outdoor Entertainment Association. He also served as Past Secretary for the State Square Dance Association. He received this past year, Clarendon’s Pioneer Man of the Year for 2006. He was also President of the Resident Council for Medical Center Nursing Home.
PRECEDED IN DEATH BY- his wife on April 19, 2004; his parents; 1 daughter, Frances Johnson on December 6, 1998.
SURVIVORS INCLUDE- a son, Glen Wallace of Brady; a daughter, Doris White of Clarendon; a sister, Lois McIntosh of Carrollton; 6 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.
