LaVonne is my older sister. We are only 18 months apart. I was deeply saddened to here of her sudden and unexpected passing. We grew up in a small Upstate New York village called Harpursville and lived in an even smaller hamlet called Center Village. Vonnie attend Harpursville Central School from kindergarten to the 12th grade, graduating at 17 years old. At 18, "Vonnie" struck out on her own, never stopping until she met her husband, Lee, and made it to Shamrock Texas. Vonnie was 1 if 9 children in a "blended " family. Her family consists of her daughter, Tonya, her brothers Bill Jerry, Jeffrey, and Brian, , her sister Dona, her step sisters Cheryl and Diane, her step mother Edith Iveresen, her grand children and her cousin Rachel Wescott. Vonnie was predeceased by both sets of grandparents, her father Alton Carpenter, her mother Joan Dunshee, her Aunt Anna Mae and most recently, her step brother Michael Whitaker. Vonnie was as strong and determined as she was kind and loving.
With the help of her family and faith, Vonnie was sober for many years. A prime example to others that determination, courage perseverance and faith could accomplish any difficult goal. I will always remember our life together. The good, the difficult, the happy, the sad, but most of all, I will remember how Vonnie always saw the good in people and the hope in tomorrow. All of your family loves you and will miss you dearly. I will especially miss our monthly texts and phone conversations.
Please look down on us and say a prayer for us. Until I get to see you and your lovely smile again--
"Love you bunches"
Your "Big" brother, Bill
