Larry Reagan Shuttlesworth's Obituary
Larry Reagan Shuttlesworth passed away at 10:10 AM, Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at the age of 74.
He was born June 8, 1943 in Wichita Falls, TX, to Jim and Freda Shuttlesworth. He grew up in Phillips, TX where he graduated from Phillips High School in 1961. He attended Baylor University for two years before joining the Marine Corp reserves for two years active duty. There he was recognized as an Honor Man and received the Platoon Blue Award. After serving for two years inactive reserves, he returned to Lubbock, TX and Texas Tech University where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1971.
Larry married Tammy Clark and went to work as a senior accountant in Lubbock. They became parents to Christopher Reagan Shuttlesworth, January 7, 1971. Later they moved to Angel Fire, NM where Larry continued working as a chief accountant for the Angel Fire Resort.
He was employed by Phillips Petroleum in Borger, TX and when Phillips was sold, he requested to be transferred to Tioga, ND, as a “roustabout” for the next 11 years and was a member of the Rambler’s Motorcycle Club. He then moved to Cut Bank, MT as a gang pusher and an oil buyer and enjoyed membership in the National Rifle Association. He spent 23 years in the petroleum industry before retiring. At the age of 55, he worked as an independent contract supervisor and was in charge of laying a pipeline across the Sacagawea Lake.
His later years were spent in Pinnacle, MT where he built a home and enjoyed the beautiful scenery, hunting, and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents and leaves behind his son, Chris Shuttlesworth of Lubbock, TX and a step-daughter, Shelly.
