SHAMROCK
MEMORIAL SERVICES- 2:00 pm Wednesday, July 24, 2013 in the Eleventh Street Baptist Church in Shamrock with Rev. Joe G. Jernigan and Rev. David Moore, officiating.
Cremation and Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Shamrock.
Kenneth was born February 27, 1938 in McLean to Buster and Eula Faye Stokes. He graduated from Shamrock High School in 1956. He married Billie Juajaun Stevens on July 28, 1956 in Borger. He then served in the US Army Reserve from 1958 to 1964. At 50, Kenneth graduated from Clarendon College in 1988. Kenneth had been a resident of Shamrock most of his adult life where he was very involved in the community. He was a former member of the Shamrock Jaycees, Shamrock City Council, Shamrock ISD School Board, Shamrock Sports Boosters, District 2T-1 High Plains Lions Eye Bank Board, and the Shamrock Chamber of Commerce. He was a former chairman of the Shamrock St. Patrick’s Day committee. He was a member of the Shamrock Boosters, Shamrock Lions Club where he held several different offices, and the Eleventh Street Baptist Church in Shamrock where he served as a Deacon.
PRECEDED IN DEATH BY – his parents; his wife on July 13, 2013; his in laws, Joan and Van Pennington of Athens, Stephen and Jaunette O’Gorman of Shamrock, and Rhonda Ferguson of Wheeler.
SURVIVORS – his son, Steven Stokes and wife Mary of Shamrock; 2 daughters, Lynnette Thomas and husband Mark of Shamrock, and Julie Hrbacek and husband Gary of Apache, Oklahoma; 2 brothers, Burnis Stokes and wife Della Mae of Shamrock and Gene Stokes and wife Barbara of Round Rock; his brother in law, Dale Stevens and wife Janet of Wheeler; 9 granchildren, Danielle Nelson of Killeen, Amy Nelson of Pampa, Tristan Johnson of Corpus Christi, Heather Mullins and husband Matt of Amarillo, Casey Miller of Shamrock, Chancey Miller of Shamrock, Ethan Hrbacek of Apache, Oklahoma, Evan Hrbacek of Apache, Oklahoma, and Everett Hrbacek of Apache, Oklahoma; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
