CLARENDON SERVICES - Graveside services will be at 1:00 pm on Thursday, July 17, 2008 at Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon with Pastor Joe Hunsaker, officiating. INTERMENT - Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon. Julia Catherine Taylor Murphy, a local pioneer family member, died at the age of 96 on July 12, 2008. She attended school in Clarendon and was the class “yell leader“ for her high school years. She had many activities, but liked to talk about the time she did the Charleston down Polk Street in Amarillo during a parade. She married Thomas Nelson Murphy in 1929 and they moved into the “Murphy Castle”. They later established residence in Amarillo where she loved her neighbors. PRECEDED IN DEATH BY - her husband in 1985; her parents, Walter & Minnie Taylor; 3 sisters, Athlyn Boomer, Vivian Blackwell, and Dorothy Matthews. SURVIVORS - her daughter, Alma Louise Hunsaker and husband George; 2 sons, Tommy Taylor Murphy and Patrick Dennis Murphy; 4 grandchildren, Lucy Ann Hunsaker, Joe Thomas Hunsaker and wife Barbara, Julie Beth Hunsaker, & Tim Murphy; 2 great-grandchildren, Joe Thomas Hunsaker, Jr. and Jonathan Taylor Hunsaker.
