Jose Reyes de la Rosa's Obituary
Jose Reyes de la Rosa of Memphis, Texas passed away Friday, February 6, 2015. Rosary will be at 7:00 pm Monday, February 9th at Robertson Funeral Directors in Memphis. Mass will be Tuesday, February 10th at 2:00 pm at Sacred Heart Catholic Church located at 213 N 3rd Street in Memphis, TX with Rev. David Contreras officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Memphis.
Mr. Reyes was born March 11, 1923 in El Nigromante, Zacatecas, Mexico. He met and married his wife Emma Barrera while working at the Falcon Dam in south Texas. They raised their family in Tulia and Memphis, retiring in 1993 after 25 years of employment with Memphis Compress Company.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pablo Reyes Silva and Juana de la Rosa Zapata and his wife, Emma.
He is survived by nine children: five sons, Pablo Reyes and wife, Carol, Candy Reyes and wife Helen and Joe Reyes, Jr. and wife, Claudell, all of Amarillo, Ray Reyes and wife, Patty of Bridgeport, and Jerry Reyes and wife, Julie of Marble Falls; four daughters, Les Vela of Midland, Juana Galloway and husband, Robert of Richmond, Mary Shawhart and husband, Mark and Ruth Reyes-Price and husband, Merle, both of Amarillo. He is also survived by two sisters, Maria de Jesus Reyes de Diaz and Irene Reyes de Davila, both of El Nigromante. "Papa" will be deeply missed by his twelve grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
