McLEAN SERVICES - 2:00 pm on Monday, May 10, 2010 in the Trinity Church in McLean with Mike Maxwell, Pastor, and Joe Jernigan, Pastor of Calvary Christian Fellowship Church in Shamrock, officiating. INTERMENT - Hillcrest Cemetery in McLean. ARRANGEMENTS - Robertson Funeral Directors of McLean. Mr. Kirkland was born April 25, 1946 in Wellington to Walter Lee and Tressie Mae Jones Kirkland and had been a resident of McLean most of his adult life. He married Carla Denice Hanes on July 5, 1983 at Wheeler. He had worked in construction, the oilfield, and doing ranch work much of his life. He was a talented musician who played in numerous bands throughout his adult life. In the late 70s, he played on small area radio stations including KBYB in Shamrock. He attended the Trinity Church in McLean. He was well liked throughout the community and will be deeply missed by those who knew him. PRECEDED IN DEATH BY- his parents; a sister, Faye Bonner; and 4 brothers, J.L. Kirkland, Bill Kirkland, Donald Kirkland, and Pete Kirkland. SURVIVORS - his wife, Carla Denice Hanes Kirkland of McLean; 2 sons, Marvin Ray Kirkland of Greenbriar, Arkansas, Johnny Thomas Kirkland Jr. of Deshler, Nebraska; 3 daughters, Evelyn Michelle Kirkland of Canadian, Deana Marie Vines of Conway, Arkansas, Destiny Nichole Landes of Amarillo; 2 brothers, James Kirkland of Pampa, Walter Kirkland of Cedar Lake, Oklahoma; 3 sisters, Naoma Lowe-Robertson of Clarendon, Willie Bea Hooten of Shamrock, Shirley Gipson of Odessa; 11 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
