Johnnie was born on December 2, 1935 in Plaska, Tx to JJ and Juanita McDaniel, joining sisters Yetive and Joyce. Growing up on a farm provided them a wonderful and very fulfilling childhood. After making the move to Memphis, Johnnie was an active member in the band and baton twirling throughout high school. After graduation from Memphis High School she attended Texas Tech University.
She married Bobby Dick Hutcherson on January 15, 1955 in Memphis, Tx. Johnnie took great joy in being a loving wife and mother to two rambunctious boys, Ed and Dick. The boys kept her busy riding dune buggies, motorcycles, while also watching them participate in various sports. The family enjoyed trips to Greenbelt Lake together, engaging in fishing and skiing as a top priority. Johnnie was an amazing cook and quite the card shark.
After the devastating loss of Bobby Dick in 1981, Johnnie devoted her life to her two boys. She enjoyed being an active member of First Methodist Church for countless years while also vontunteering in various organizations including being a candy striper at the Hall County Hospital. While painting and quilting were some of her biggest passions, she formed some of her dearest friendships laughing around the card table.
Johnnie went on to marry Roy Gresham in 1984 in Memphis. She enjoyed traveling with their Good Sam’s RV Club with Wyoming and Arizona being among her favorite destinations.
Her true calling as “Grandma Johnnie” came along with the arrival of her grandkids. Allison, Bobby, Haley, Billy and Molly were her pride and joy. A few of her favorite things included hosting tea parties, baking cookies and playing dress up with her grandchildren. Everyone was happier in her presence. She supported her grandchildren unconditionally by tagging along to every stock show, golf tournament, and vacation, while also teaching them the importance of family and how to live life to the fullest.
As a devout christian, Johnnie was a member of the Oliver Circle and taught Sunday School to numerous generations of children. She genuinely cared about people and felt it was an honor to serve others. With a constant smile on her face there wasn’t anything that couldn’t be solved over a round of cards and a cold Diet Dr. Pepper.
In the later years of her life Johnnie had the blessing of becoming a Great Grandmother. Inspiring the next generation with her amazing talents, love, and the joy of their monthly trips to the Dollar General.
Johnnie created tidal waves in the hearts and lives of everyone she met. She persued the Lord with all her heart, loved unconditionally, spread joy and kindness, was gracious, and took care of everyone around her. She was a true matriarch of her community.
Johnnie is survived by sister Yetive Miller of Memphis, son Ed Hutcherson of Amarillo, son Dick Hutcherson and wife Monica of Memphis and all five grandchildren. Eric and Allison Llundbland of San Antonio, Bobby and Carla Hutcherson of Fulshear, Haley Ollinger of Memphis, Billy Hutcherson of Amarillo, Brad and Molly Watson of Amarillo, and ten great grandchildren. Lillie, Hutch, Finnley and Hazel Ollinger, Cannon, Uree and John Hutcherson, Jace Hutcherson, Ruby and Lucy Llundbland, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be sent to the First Methodist Church in Memphis.
