Johnnie Ray Burns' Obituary
AMARILLO, formerly of Shamrock SERVICES– 2:00 pm Saturday, August 17, 2013 in the First Baptist Church in Shamrock with Rev. Gary Thomas, Rev. Gipson, and Rev. Nickerson, officiating. INTERMENT- Shamrock Cemetery in Shamrock. Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Shamrock. Mrs. Burns was born August 16, 1946 in Shamrock to Eli and Katha Mae Green Carter. She married Virgil Burns. She had worked at the Shamrock Nursing Home and at Wheeler Nursing and Rehab. Prior to moving to Amarillo about 8 years ago, Mrs. Burns had lived in Shamrock. She loved her kids and grandkids, loved sewing, and she was known for her Sunday dinners. She was a member of the New Jerusalem Church of God in Christ in Amarillo. PRECEDED IN DEATH BY – her parents; 2 sons, Tony Ray and Dwight Carter; a brother, E.J. Carter; and by a grandchild.
SURVIVORS – her husband, Virgil Burns of Tennessee Colony, Texas; 2 sons, Clifton Burns and wife Alma of Shamrock, Robert Dewayne Curry of Amarillo; 2 daughters, Cheryl Anderson of Marlin, Texas, Aretha Curry of Amarillo, Texas; a brother, Frank Carter of Amarillo; 3 sisters, Mae Gipson of Littleton, Colorado, Maggie Rice of Dallas, Texas, Nellie Jackson of Amarillo; 20 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.
