John Ronald "Ron" Patton's Obituary
John Ronald “Ron” Patton of Shamrock, TX passed away on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 in Amarillo, TX at the age of 80 years, 5 months and 24 days. A family-led Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at Calvary Christian Fellowship in Shamrock, with Daylon Kirkland officiating, assisted by Mark Thomas.
Cremation and Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Shamrock.
Ron was born on Saturday, May 15, 1943 in Butler, OK to J.C. and Hazel (Ramsey) Patton. He grew up in Butler and Leedey, OK and graduated from high school in Kiowa, KS in 1961. After graduating, Ron began farming and ranching, which remained one of his lifelong passions. One of his first achievements was helping to build the Panhandle Feedlot. From there, he moved to Muleshoe to operate the Sandy Feedlot. He married Janie Baker in Shamrock, TX on May 4, 1972. In July of 1983, they moved to Shamrock, where he worked for 10 years at Cantrell Service Station and continued farming and ranching. He enjoyed hunting and loved tinkering and building things with his hands. He was a Baptist and was baptized at Moorewood Baptist Church in Moorewood, OK.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, J.C. and Hazel Patton; his daughter, Ronda Jean Rogers; his son, Rocky Patton; and 2 grandchildren, Devon Patton and Georgia Patton.
He is survived by his wife, Janie, of Shamrock; his children, Joy Denney and husband, Brian, of Amarillo, TX, Kenneth Patton and wife, Jessie, of Shamrock, and Valerie Potter and husband, David, of Cheyenne, OK; 10 grandchildren, Adler Seymour and wife, Emily, of Reydon, OK, Braden Seymour and wife, Ryle, of Hammon, OK, Taylor Reeder and husband, Shea, of Briscoe, TX, Shayla Patton of Burkburnett, TX, Zane Patton, Blaine Patton and Brenna Patton, all of Shamrock, Sherydyn Patton and fiancé, Beau Massey, of Amarillo, Jamme Henry and Preston McLendon of Amarillo and Josh Rogers, also of Amarillo; 8 great grandchildren, Asher and Adley Seymour, Townes and Conlee Seymour, Rustin and Lanie Reeder, Ronni McLendon and Cady Henry; 5 siblings, Bob Patton of Park City, KS, Hazel Hodgson of Little River, KS, Virginia Saldana and husband, Sal, of Summerville, SC, Patricia Ann Hager and husband, Rick, of Travers City, MI and J.C. Patton, Jr and wife, Lorie, of Woodward, OK; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association or the National Kidney Foundation.
