John Hal Christner, Sr., 87, of Shamrock died Saturday, March 3, 2018 in Amarillo.
Memorial Service will be Friday, March 9, 2018 at 2:00 PM in the First United Methodist Church in Shamrock with Rev. Jarrod Neal, officiating.
Private Family Inurnment will be in Shamrock Cemetery in Shamrock.
Cremation & Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Shamrock.
John Hal Christner was born June 29, 1930 in Austin to James Blaine and Rubie Vaughn Christner. He moved to Shamrock at age 10 and was a 1948 graduate of Shamrock High School. He married Claudia Aycock on July 2, 1950 in Shamrock and together they had Jan and Johnny. He was a 1952 graduate of Texas A&M University. He has lived in Shamrock since 1964. He was active in the First United Methodist Church and Shamrock Boosters Club. He loved fishing, golfing, and gardening. He served as General Chairman of the St. Patrick’s Celebration in 1977. He was chosen outstanding farmer of the area in 1972. He was also a member of the Texas A&M Century Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and 2 brothers, Mac and Tom Christner.
Survivors include his wife, Claudia Christner of Shamrock; a son, Johnny Christner of Shamrock; a daughter, Jan Woodard and husband Dan of Houston; 4 grandchildren, Brian Hardin, Ashley Hardin, Cassie Small, and Reid Christner; 6 great grandchildren, Peyton, Zoe, Kensi, Kylie, Kynslee, and Jaxson.
The family request memorials be sent to Shamrock Cemetery Association.
