John Winfield "Blackie" Hartwick's Obituary
CLARENDON SERVICES - 2:00 pm, Saturday, September 17, 2005 in the Clarendon Church of Christ with Max McClendon , Minister of the Church of Christ in Shamrock, officiating. INTERMENT - Citizens Cemetery Mr. Hartwick was born in Chilton, Texas and had been a Clarendon resident for 30 years. He married Nora Grigg on May 22, 1938 at Houston, Texas. He was a Pipeline Construction Supervisor for Houston Construction Company for 27 years. After his retirement, he and his wife moved to Clarendon where they have been living ever since. Mr. Hartwick was a member of the Pipeliners Union for 55 years, and also a deacon of the Church of Christ in Clarendon. He was a friendly person and never knew a stranger. SURVIVORS - 1 son Larry Hartwick of Longview, Washington; 1 daughter, Jane McClendon & husband Max of Shamrock; one brother, Donald Gene Hartwick of Beaumont; 2 sisters, Maxine Terry of Henessey, Oklahoma, & Barbara Bond of Beaumont; 8 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.
