CLAUDE SERVICES- 2:00 pm Wednesday, December 2, 2009 in the First Baptist Church in Claude with Rev. Janet Edwards, Pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Claude, officiating. INTERMENT- Claude Cemetery in Claude. Arrangements are by Robertson Armstrong Chapel of Claude. Jimmie Ira Burgan, 66, of Claude, TX died Saturday, November 28, 2009 in Quitman, TX. Ira was born May 10, 1943 in Canyon, TX to Gerry and Jimmie Ford Burgan. Ira attended school in Canyon, TX and lived there most his life. He was a true truck driver, as he started his career the summer after he turned seventeen. He became a truck driver to see what new adventure the next town and the next state would bring. He drove for several companies throughout his career and was an owner operator for the last several years. His favorite thing to do was talk whether on the old CB radios, telephones or in person. He could tell long tales about his travels and all that he had seen throughout the years of being on the road. He never met a stranger, and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him. PRECEDED IN DEATH BY- his father, his second wife C.J. and a grandson Dillon Luttrell. SURVIVORS- include his mother Gerry Burgan of Claude, three daughters Kira Burgan of Fort Collins, CO, Tina Fortner & husband John of Allen, TX and Lisa Burgan-Jones of Frisco, TX; one son John Burgan of Amarillo; Five grandchildren December Luttrell of Amarillo, TX, John Marq, Gracie & Bella Fortner of Allen, TX and Hudson Jones of Frisco, TX. MEMORIALS- The family suggests that memorials donations be sent to the Dillon Luttrell Scholarship Fund c/o Panhandle ISD.
