CLARENDON
SERVICES- 2:00 pm on Thursday, January 19, 2006 in Robertson Chapel Of Memories with Rev. Darrell Burton, minister of the Martin Baptist Church in Clarendon & Odyssey Hospice Chaplain, officiating.
INTERMENT- with military honors following in Rowe Cemetery in Hedley, TX.
Mr. Land was born November 15, 1919 in Hedley to Zeb Land and Ruth Durham Land. Jiggs married Geraldine McCalister August 16, 1952 in Clovis, N.M. Prior to his marriage he served in the US Army’s 349th Infantry during World War II. He loved his country and was proud to fly the American flag. Jiggs owned a BBQ restaurant in Perryton before moving back to Donley County 1971 where he worked as a farmer. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Clarendon and VFW Post 7782.
PRECEDED IN DEATH BY - his parents; 3 brothers - Roscoe Land, Pete Land, and Jack Land; 6 sisters - Vivian Cason, Essie Mae Scales, Millie Land, Ellen Fay Land, Hazel Land, and Jonnie Hill.
SURVIVORS - his wife Geraldine Land of Lelia Lake; 2 daughters -Darlene Masters of Weatherford, OK and Karen Wiple of Las Vegas, Nevada; 1 brother - Zebbie Land of Memphis; 1 sister - Margie Bailey of Hedley; 3 grandchildren - Gina McKinney, Shannon Ring, and Ron Ring; 5 great grandchildren - Timmy McKinney, Mandy Burrow, Devin Ring, Levi Scrivner, and Shelby Scrivner; 1 great-great grandchild - Jesse Burrow.
