Jesse "J.C." White's Obituary
Jesse "J.C." White 81 of Amarillo, Tx was the son of Jesse Lee White and Geraldine Van Huss. He grew up in and around Lela Texas. He loved attending and being a part of Calvary Christian Fellowship Church in Shamrock Texas. While he was a young man he traveled all over the country building grain elevators and welding in the oilfield. While he was away his heart always longed to be home. He finally settled in back home and owned and operated J.C. White's Welding. He was involved with farming and ranching his whole life and continued to take care of his cattle well into his late seventies. He fell in love with and married Roda Williams Garner when he was 40 years old. Rhoda had four children and they had one additional child together. JC loved all five of Rhoda's children as his own and he loved Rhoda dearly. His life was dedicated to telling people about Jesus Christ and spreading the gospel. This included anyone that he met from hitchhikers to patrons of the restaurant "Rhoda's Kitchen" that he and Rhoda owed for a some time. JC never met a stranger and had a jovial and happy demeanor about him. He had an excellent sense of humor, quick wit, a sharp mind and a huge caring heart of servitude. Some folks called him the "Mayor of Lela". He loved reading the Bible and history books. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren or any children in general. He will be greatly missed by his family and all those who knew him. Until we meet again in Paradise...we love you Dad.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife Rhoda, his parents and his four siblings. His brothers Jimmy, Bobby, Tommy and his sister Wanda.
He is survived by his children and their families Joe Garner of Pampa TX, Lois Garner of Ok, Mary Garner of Shamrock, Tx Clayton Garner of Carter, Ok and Jesse Robert (Robbie) White of Amarillo, Tx. Also many many grandchildren and great grandchildren. One great grand child born the day before his passing.
In lieu of any flowers dad would have preferred donations go to St Judes Children's hospital or your own church congregation.
