Services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, March 28, 2017 in the Eleventh Street Baptist Church in Shamrock with Mark Thomas, officiating.
Burial will be in Shamrock Cemetery in Shamrock.
Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Shamrock.
Jerry Harris O’Neal was born June 13, 1944 in Shamrock to Paul and Lucille O’Neal. Jerry was raised in Shamrock and graduated from Shamrock High School in 1962. In 1965, Jerry entered the US Navy where he proudly served for 9 years. He was a 1977 graduate of Southwestern College in Chula Vista, CA. Jerry also attended college at San Diego State University in San Diego, CA. In 1978, he returned to Shamrock and during the next 10 years worked with his father Paul. He also worked for Ashland chemical and the US Postal Service. During that time Jerry also served 2 terms on the Shamrock City Council and a partial term on the Planning and Zoning Board. In 1988, he moved to Farmington, NM and continued working for the US Postal Service as a Customer Service Supervisor from where he retired January 2, 2001. In April 2001, he began working for Comcast Cable as a warehouse manager and resigned from this position in August of 2010. Jerry is a member of Elks Lodge (BPOE) 1747 IN Farmington, NM and the DeShazo George Post 68 of the American Legion. Jerry moved to Wheeler in May 2013. Jerry loved to go camping with his friends, was a diehard Chargers fan and LOVED John Wayne.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters; Betty Jean and Peggy Ruth, 1 brother; James O’Neal and 1 nephew Scott Bush.
There will be a visitation for family and friends on Monday evening from 5:00-7:00 PM at the funeral home.
