To the family of Mr. Jerry Hawkins.I had the honor of meeting Mr. Hawkins at Clarendon College in 1991-1993. When I first met him I knew He was a Great Man by the conversation we had. Altgough I was not in his Class, I worked the Bairfield Building on Campus. After hearing Mr. Hawkins practice at night with His students, I too felt as I could Face new challenges without any problems. He'll Be missed very much. May God Bless You all.Slim Sides
My sympathy goes out to your family. My memory of Mr. Hawkins was that he reffed many basketball games of mine during games at Quail and many other small towns. He was good at all that he did in life. Went to Clarendon College from 1971 to 1973 and of course he was always there. Will miss him.
Jerry Hawkins was absolutely one of the most compassionate and caring people ever. Competitive, fun loving, friend, mentor, the list of adjectives that describe Hawk could go on and on. I never judged for Jerry but certainly competed against him for a number of years. I will always honor and respect this gentleman that did so much for me, because that's the way he did things. Help someone else first and then take care of himself. Our deepest sympathy to the Hawkins family.
He was a great man who influenced everyone who came into contact with him. He will be dearly missed.
Dear Hawkins Family,I was the rookie coach from the North five years ago. Jerry took me in right away and always talked to and mentored me. He always had my students in stiches and when he got to meet my own children two years ago in Phoenix he took them in and during the whole contest nothing was out of reach for them, he spoiled them as if they were his own. I will truely miss him and will never ever forget the life lessons that he taught me in the past five years. Rest in Peace Jerry "The Godfather of Judging" Hawkins.
Mrs. Hawkins, Dean, Doug, I was saddened to hear of Jerry's passing. He was a strong influence on many lives, including my own. No matter how many years nor miles that seperate us from our times togather, his lessons, insight and humor have followed each of us and made us better people for the experiance. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
The measure of a person's life is demonstrated by his family and friends he has impacted. By judging Uncle Jerry's family and the friends gathered to celebrate his life I would say he measured up quite well.We will truly miss you, but you are in a better place, unc.
I was a student from 1981-1983. Mr. Hawkins was a wonderful teacher and was so much to fun to be around. He made all the students feel important. He liked every student and every student liked him. He will be missed very much.
My deepest sympathies on the loss of Jerry. He was truly a kind hearted individual that cared about our youth. He will missed as he made a wide path across many lives.
Mr. Hawkins was a not only a great teacher and educator, but he was a great man, who taught me more about life than I could imagine. I truly value the time time I spent in Clarendon, TX and he has as much to do with my success than anyone. I will really miss him, and I am certainly praying for his family.
