Jerry Paul Carver, 78, of Abernathy died Saturday, December 31, 2022 in Lubbock.

Jerry was born October 6, 1944, in Shamrock to Thomas and Ruby Perkins Carver. He grew up in Shamrock where he spent most of his life, before retiring in Abernathy. Jerry was very smart and could build anything. He went to school to be an occupational therapist. Jerry was a certified substance abuse counselor, where he was able to help many people. He was very smart when it came to computers and electronics. Jerry also really loved cars, one of his favorite pastimes was to go for a drive around town with his dog, Pete. Most of all, Jerry loved spending time with his grandkids. He was the very best Grandpa. Christmas was his favorite holiday and he loved to go all out and spoil his grandkids. Jerry accomplished everything a man could want.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Thurman Wyane; two sisters, Glenna and Betty; a grandson-in-law John Torres; and a great granddaughter Audrey Torres.
Survivors include his daughter Debbie Carver and husband, Frankie Flores, of Memphis; grandchildren, Daniel Castillo and wife, Meldriana, Heather Castillo, and Zachary Castillo; Great Grandchildren, Vanessa, Isaiah, Zaivion, Aubriella, Aaron, Angelino, and Addilynn; several nieces and nephews; Jerry's beloved cat, Tommy Cat; and his childhood best friend, James Strickland.
